The Greater Amsterdam School District has made one change and two new appointments of Assistant Principals at the secondary school level. These were approved by the Board of Education in August.
The Amsterdam High School administrative team is now as follows:
Principal AnneMarie Giles and Assistant Principals John Davey, Mike Gennett and Michael Zabinski. Gennett has been reassigned from his Assistant Principal role at Lynch Literacy Academy to the same role at the high school.
Michael Zabinski is new to the school district. He comes to GASD after working last school year as Assistant Principal at Catskill Middle School. Prior to that, Zabinski was a fine arts teacher and department chair at The Albany Academies, where he oversaw curriculum and instruction of theater, music, dance, and visual arts programs for over 700 students. He also developed young athletes as a basketball, baseball, and football coach. He founded the Albany Academies Outdoor Club and led students on adventures that included trips to Wyoming, ice climbing in Lake Placid, camping in New Hampshire, and a summit attempt of Mount Washington. He attended the College of Saint Rose where he earned a master’s degree in Educational Leadership and Administration, and he earned a bachelor’s degree in Conservatory of Visual Arts from the State University at Purchase.
The Lynch Literacy Academy administrative team is now as follows:
Interim Principal Bryan Wood and Assistant Principals Charles Myers and Scott Hartman.
Scott Hartman is new to the school district. He comes to GASD from the Schenectady City School District where he was a special education teacher and summer school dean. Prior to that he was Assistant Director of Education – Day Services at LaSalle School, Transitional Administrator/Superintendent and Secondary Principal for the Stamford Central School District, and Assistant Junior-Senior High School Principal for Schoharie Central Schools. He also taught social studies in the Mohonasen Central School District. Hartman holds degrees in History from Siena College, Special Education from the College of Saint Rose and Educational Leadership and Administration from the Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts.
