In the cafeteria of Amsterdam High School, a student named Hector Martinez demonstrated remarkable bravery and quick thinking by performing the Heimlich Maneuver on a fellow student in distress. The swift action by Hector successfully dislodged a piece of food, allowing the student to breathe comfortably again.
In recognition of his life-saving efforts, Hector Martinez has been awarded a Life Saving Certificate from the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office. Undersheriff Carl Rust presented the award to Hector, acknowledging his courageous and selfless act.
The Greater Amsterdam School District is incredibly proud of Hector for his heroism and for making a significant difference in the life of another student. His actions exemplify the values of bravery and community spirit that we strive to instill in all our students.
