Barbara Artis and a team of helpers from the Capital District Transportation Authority (CDTA) recently visited McNulty Academy to provide a special experience for Mrs. Cichy and Ms. Reed’s PreK classes. The visit was part of a classroom discussion about the similarities and differences between city buses and school buses, helping to prepare students for upcoming field trips in the new year.
The highlight of the visit was the opportunity for students to explore a real CDTA city bus. While on board, they listened to a festive Christmas story, sang songs, and enjoyed hands-on activities. Each student received a CDTA activity book and a holiday stocking to decorate, making the experience both educational and fun.
Superintendent Richard Ruberti shared his appreciation for the partnership, stating, “Opportunities like this not only enhance learning but also foster connections with our community. We are incredibly thankful to CDTA for their generosity and for helping our youngest learners explore a valuable resource in such a memorable way.”
This visit not only introduced students to a valuable community resource but also brought the spirit of the season into the classroom. The Greater Amsterdam School District extends its gratitude to Barbara Artis and CDTA for their time, generosity, and commitment to enriching the education of our students.
