The Greater Amsterdam School District is pleased to announce the appointment of Krystal Hammond as the new principal of Lynch Literacy Academy. With 17 years of experience in education, Hammond brings a wealth of knowledge and leadership to the role, along with a deep commitment to student success and community engagement.
Hammond began her career in the Lansingburgh School District, where she spent 13 years as a middle and high school Spanish teacher. In 2021, she joined the Greater Amsterdam School District as the assistant principal of Marie Curie Elementary, a position she held for three years before transitioning to her most recent role as the ninth-grade assistant principal at Amsterdam High School.
Her educational background includes a Certificate of Advanced Study in School Building Leader and School District Leader from the SUNY Plattsburgh Graduate Program. She also holds a Master of Arts in Teaching from Union Graduate College and a Bachelor of Modern Languages and Literature in Spanish from Union College.
Superintendent of Schools Richard Ruberti expressed confidence in Hammond’s leadership, stating, “Krystal Hammond has demonstrated exceptional dedication to the students and families of Amsterdam. Her experience, passion for education, and strong leadership skills make her an excellent fit for Lynch Literacy Academy. We look forward to seeing the positive impact she will continue to have on our school community.”
Reflecting on her new role, Hammond shared, “Over my four years in the Greater Amsterdam School District, I have had the opportunity to work with amazing staff, students, and families. I look forward to my new role as principal of LLA and the continued opportunity to serve this school community.”
