VR Event

This week, students in Ms. Vandenburgh’s STEAM class at Marie Curie Elementary participated in a pilot program using Class VR headsets. The program, designed for grades K-5, introduces students to immersive virtual experiences that align with classroom learning. Under the guidance of Instructional Technology Coach Mrs. Fureno, students explored environments such as the ocean, outer space, and historical landmarks.

The initiative is part of GASD’s ongoing effort to integrate technology into education. “Virtual reality allows students to engage with concepts in a way that traditional methods cannot. Whether they are studying space, history, or science, these experiences provide a deeper level of understanding and engagement,” said Superintendent Richard Ruberti.

All Curie students will have the opportunity to use the VR headsets during their STEAM classes through next Tuesday. GASD is evaluating the program’s impact and exploring the potential for expanded use across the district.
