The Amsterdam High School Drama Club has earned six nominations for the 2025 High School Musical Theatre Awards at Proctors for their production of Hadestown: Teen Edition. The annual event, which celebrates the best in high school musical theatre across the Capital Region, will take place on Saturday, May 10 at 7 p.m. on the MainStage at Proctors in Schenectady.
As part of the event, Amsterdam students will also have the exciting opportunity to perform live on stage during the ceremony.
The nominations include:
Backstage Excellence – Amsterdam High School – “Hadestown: Teen Edition”
Outstanding Choreography Execution – Amsterdam High School – “Hadestown: Teen Edition”
Outstanding Ensemble – Amsterdam High School – “Hadestown: Teen Edition”
Outstanding Lead Performer – Samuel Valberg as Hades
Outstanding Lead Performer – Lianelys Oviedo Roman as Eurydice
Outstanding Musical Tier C – Amsterdam High School – “Hadestown: Teen Edition”
This marks a major achievement for the AHS Drama Club, and the district is proud to recognize the students, directors, and behind-the-scenes crew for their outstanding talent and dedication.
To help celebrate this milestone, the club is organizing a group ticket purchase so families and supporters can sit together during the event. Tickets are currently priced at $15 per person, but the cost may decrease based on the total number of attendees.

Once the group rate is finalized, payments can be submitted via Venmo (@Christopher-Stefani-1) or by check made out to Amsterdam Student Drama Club Productions, Inc.
Two Outstanding Lead Performers selected at this event will go on to represent the region at the National High School Musical Theatre Awards (The Jimmys) in New York City this June—an exciting possibility for Amsterdam’s own talented nominees!
